Summer HouseSummer House
It's kinda spooky for Halloween.

This was painted when I was watching a studio neighbour sell pictures of houses like they were hotcakes.  I didn't take the photograph, it was from a magazine but I kind of wanted to prove I could do it.

I did a class in archetectural rendering at Ryerson when I was working as a graphic artist.   I hated every minute of it.  I think my boss thought he could get all the pictures of idillic suburban life done in house and cheap.  I am less uncompromising now but while my ego is more pliant my joints are not!  I think it turned out okay.  You can sort of get how I feel.

I'm getting to the end of what I have photos of.

I have some nudes but I won't post them.

Some are rolled up and wrapped in a sheet and in the shed.  I hope you have enjoyed the show! Thanks you all who commented.

Bridge
<tr> <td> Bridge

This was painted before I got my glasses.  It could have been based on a photo taken at Edwards Gardens.  I think this foot bridge got washed out.  I did the underpainting all in RED. I was experimenting at the time. I think if I were to paint it again I would change the composition a bit.

I felt I was in the zone at this point. I found out I could stretch pigment with glazes and various medium. It was a fun time. God I miss it.

Degrassi House
Degrassi House Invitation to the "Frame of Mind"

I can't remember what year it was.  It might have been 2001.  The Degrassi House is no longer.  I went down to the area this week and didn't recognize the place.  It has been gentrafied.  I think I captured how I felt those days (oh and shit, these days too) like a rusted out Packard in the desert.

It was repeated to me often as a child that art can be "nice" but you don't want to be an artist because artists are crazy. I think artist are like sherpas in the land of crazy.  They Know the terrain but they also know the way out.
While the palette of the romantic landscape appeals to me emotionally, being a bit of a downer, I realized I had to start to look at other approaches to colour.  I was also increasingly annoyed by the limitations of acryillic paint when applied to this sort of work.
