baby indigo ) Behind a cut in case it is too large.

I have no idea what I am doing. The program was lent to my by Dee who also gave me a Bamboo stylus. The next picture was when I actually had some time to play around, so long ago now that I don't remember how I got this much done. There is a bit on the cheek that is blended. Why do I still find playing with the paint program so much easier? ack!

I am trying to draw everyday.  Lately I have been taking photos of my television with my digital camera and then just using the view box of the camera for reference.  After that I scan the drawing and then post it.  I have no doubt that there is an easier way to do this but this means I can sit anywhere in the house and draw.

I love drawing because it shows me how different the seeing and the believing parts of the brain are.  Seriously.  They inform each other but they are different. Seeing is not believing and believing is not seeing.  This is how we can be fooled.  This is why we make lousy witnesses. But if you really work on seeing, and letting go of what you think something should look like, you can render what everyone can recognize, (although, it's hard to say what their brains will do the information!)

This is an post I made way back in 2007 or so about that stuff, that I put in my wordpress blog about this stuff.  I got to teach an art class at my son's school.  Anyway, if you are interested here's the link. the link.  I titled it: Patrick Stewart is a God.  When is that not true?

darylThis was Daryl's expression when Carol told him how much better off he is now.   She is warning him not to let his brother drag him down again.  Still the irony for both of them is they are actually happier than they were before the apocolyse. Go figure eh?

HershelHershel - The Walking Dead.

As an former battered wife, she is one character whose life got better after the zombie apocalypse.img036I did this drawing this morning, free hand from a the tiny screen on my digital camera with a still I took from the t.v.   I am trying to keep some drawing chops at least.  I like her face and as a "middle-aged" woman I think  she is rather beautiful.

In this shot she is looking at Daryl. He is is someone who is still dealing with a toxic family member (not everybody who should gets eaten by zombies).  He is possibly her lover, and definately a real friend and confidant.  I don't think she had many people like that in her life before.

penitent hermit Lewis hunched a little as he stepped inside. Although the woven twigs of the ceiling were easily high enough to accommodate someone much taller than he was, the shack had the feel of a cloister, the kind favoured by penitent hermits. It was sparely furnished, just a cot pulled close to the brazier and a work table stretching across the width of the space along the side wall where, Lewis guessed, the sunlight would fall at dawn.

It was here that the penitent hermit himself sat, his head sunk with concentration between narrow shoulders, long-fingered hands cradling the listening cups affixed to his ears by a leather band around the back of his head.
from Troyswann's series called Peregrine.

lewiscrop2So some changes are obvious, for instance, Lewis always wears a dark suit, well mostly.  The bird is no longer a hawk but a falcon (Peregrine) and the Jinn is from Troyswann's illustration. The Zeppelin or balloon does not have a railing like I had drawn.  I am wondering if I should have rigging hanging down.

The next one I draw will be an interior.  I going to read the series again though with attention on such details.  If you are interested you can find the stories over at this place

img026This is for troyswann and for all the lovely words written in her series called Peregrine. I have not a clue about zepplins and also not a clue at what the view is like from one, how the buildings look or well, what I don't know is endless.  Hathaway is wearing a sort of hoody-come-monks robe, because umm he is unemployed?  Lewis has terrible posture but his character is such that he is always scratching away at some clue or another, not desperately, but like a detective, because I think that is what he is. The two are very complimentary.  The stillness and the impatience taking turns.

The photo this is based on is from the last episode of INspector Lews and they are drinking beer looking at a river.

I finally used up some valuable printer ink and printed out a copy, but this was drawn free hand, no tricks. I would use em if I knew how.

One thing I noticed is if you click on the location I put in (where else? the eternal basement of one's childhood home) you actually get a map with several tacks on it.

I had a thing for Art Deco.  I know, I know, it was a low point in the history of art, blah blah blah, but I kinda like it.  So this is my artdeco tile, made by me, drawn with pencil crayon and then scanned and laboriously tweaked using paint.img023No I am not finished.  I guess if I had Adode whatzitcalled I could learn how to do this stuff in the blink of an eye huh?  But why?  I mean.  what is the hurry right? So tel me what you think.  I am so depressed right now I am praying for an anuerism to kill me.  I think I will do this over in cross stitch.  That should take the rest of my life.tile2
