Dangerous Dan's Diner in Riverdale, Toronto

I met my friend for lunch on Tuesday at the above mentioned Toronto landmark.  This is the review she wrote of the place:

It's hard to believe that air can hold an actual fugue of grease molecules, but walk into Dangerous Dan's Diner and you'll see what I mean. The next thing you'll notice is the decor, which is minimal except for the chairs: faux leather bucket car seats. Some are slightly tilted, and there are chalkboards high above the steaming black grill. All of the orders are taken at a tall counter right by the door. And for gawdsake please. Read the Menu. If the Harley Dude Looming by the till has to answer more than two questions he will smilingly threaten to throw you out, and he's admittedly an equal-rights tosser. No exceptions. I can tell you there's no coleslaw. Or sweet potato fries. After tweaking the Harley Dude with *that* line, my co-critic was surprised to discover that they do offer salad; Garden, Greek, Caesar & Spinach. On the Menu. We both ordered Fish & Chips ($10 CDN) & she fearlessly asked him to hold the Fries and asked for a Garden Salad. It's a Pay Now place, and my advice: use cash. That was the greasiest plastic-machine I've ever , ever encountered. Luckily there was a table with bench seats (from a truck or two) and we settled right in without getting stuck. The fish, when it arrived, was humongous, crispy beer-battered, and delicious. I suspect there was real mayo in the tub of ubiquitous tartar sauce, which was also delicious. Neither of us had opted for Dan's famous "Quadruple C - Colossal Colon Clogger Combo", a really artful combination...featuring two eggs and two pounds of beef, bacon and cheese. As advertised, I'm sure, especially with poutine & a large milkshake ($25 CDN). Neither did we opt for dessert, but now I do know where to get that rare Aberdeen delicacy: deep-fried Mars bar with whipped & ice-cream ($5.60 CDN). Four Stars.
