Cake decorating

This morning the fondant on the top tier of the cake had melted.  I had to carefully save the flowers and then roll out a new piece of fondant.  I turned on the air conditioner and dehydrated the room and cooled it to 18 c.  It made it to the venue okay.  I am so glad I didn't take the unopened fondant back to the store.  I am also glad it happened here and not at the venue.

It was caused by the cake thawing out in a room that got really warm and humid over night. I am fairly certain that it won't happen now that the fondant has dried out a bit in a cool room. It did get a bit less square on one corner but hey, it's okay.

I didn't have a total freak out and pulled it together in time for the son-to-be to come by and drive it to the ferry to the island venue!!! Tomorrow is the big day. Can't wait.

Only had a brief moment of sinking dread. I had a shot of tequila. I might end up with a problem but for now it is a stop gap. It's only a problem if you lie about it right?
