A Poem a Day

THE TREE in the front yard is tough,
skin like an elephant's, barely any leaves, not the point,
where it stands is the point.
It is invincible. That is it's point.
It grows barely an inch a year but it is an inch no one can take from it, its roots choke the house, tear up the plumbing but like
a Grand Old Dame
no one can uproot it.
I wrote this in May 2005. A few changes... The tree is gone, Ash borer killed it.
