I have been retiling my basement floor and fighting with citronella ants. Of course there have been other things going on but as I work in the basement these two things have been my main preoccupations. I had my “studio” in the back room after I hired someone to put in insulation and dry wall on the ceiling.
The old floor was a miss-mash of tiles, there having been two small rooms and a hallway in what is now one large beautiful room…
I’m being tediously boring. I know it. I have gone to a few social gatherings and watched the glazed look that overcomes people when someone goes into detail about renovations! Suffice to say, now it has a nice floor I can no longer paint in there! I will leave painting for a while and work on a baby quilt that has a lot of applique. Here is a picture of what I have so far!
Doing applique is fun and I can fold it up and bring it with me, unlike a painting.
I have NO PLAN at all. This is purely random beyond the overall idea of animals found in Africa. They are all very stylized and cartoony. I need to do twelve white squares for the border. (The fabric I have them on top of is from Nigeria! I fell in love with batik in Kenya when I visited as a teenager.) It will take forever! The lions got lost, too pale, so I am thinking of putting a sunburst around them, hence the weird orange ball. As I said, I have no plan at all!
Wish me luck!
